A Real WED Bride: Julianna Hamdan

We are so excited to showcase one of our most recent brides, Mrs. Julianna Hamdan, as one of our gorgeous real WED brides! Her elegant Lis Simon gown was the perfect, soft touch for her timeless day! Her dress highlights its simple off-the-shoulder crepe bodice with buttons stunningly cascading down her chapel length train. The WED team had the honor sharing details given by Mrs. Julianna Hamdan on her graceful and classic day.

Tell us about your Husband! How did you two meet? How did he propose?

We both went to Texas Tech University at the same time, graduated the same year, and had many of the same friends. However, our paths never crossed during those five years. It was four years later, in 2017, that we met on a fall night after a Red Raider game day at Café J. Ali had just moved back to Lubbock after living and working in Fort Worth and had a few friends in town for the game. Thanks to Ali’s friend Nathan and my sorority sister Elizabeth, who are now engaged as well (yay!), the two of us met for the very first time. We had our first date a couple of weeks later and we’ve been inseparable ever since.

When we decided to go to Italy in 2019 for my 30th birthday, I had no idea what was to come. After spending a day in Pisa, we took the train down to Rome to explore the eternal city on my birthday. We ended our day at the Vatican with a romantic dinner at La Biga, where we sat on the rooftop overlooking the Colosseum in all of its glowing evening glory. After eating more than we could handle, we decided to take a stroll around the Colosseum before calling it a night. Halfway around, and without another soul in sight, Ali stopped me. He took both of my hands, got down on one knee, and asked me to be his wife. The next week was a dream as we explored the magical sites that Italy has to offer, not as boyfriend and girlfriend, but as future husband and wife.

Was there anything that changed from you and your fiancés original vision to what actually came to be on your wedding day?

I think everything we wanted pretty much stayed the same! It was mostly my vision as Ali wanted it to be my special day. By doing our research and relentlessly reaching out to several vendors for quotes, we were able to stay in budget and make it all happen!

Did you have any “bloopers” or funny moments on the day of that you’ll always remember?

I had our coordinator put our cake in front of a window bc our venue had huge windows and it looked so pretty. Our amazing baker’s cakes are so delicious and moist, that the sun melted it and it started to collapse. We had to rush to cut the cake while our coordinator held it up and attempted to hide behind me. The cake was still delicious and no guests noticed!

What is the most memorable moment you had during your wedding day?

It’s all such a blur, but I think my favorite moment is the ten minutes we had to ourselves in the bridal suite to eat dinner and be alone.

Last but not least, what is your favorite local Funky Town (AKA Fort Worth) date night spot? Either for happy hour, dinner or entertainment.

I don’t know how to pick just one. Chimys is a happy hour go to for us since we’re Red Raiders. But for date night, we love Fixe if we want to dress up. Otherwise, we brewery hop and eat at food trucks.

We are so thankful we got the opportunity to share this beautiful day with you, Julianna! The WED Bridal team appreciates you for allowing us to be apart of your wedding day and feature some of your special moments on the real WED bride blog. A huge congratulations to you and Ali from all of us here at WED!
