How did you & Jayton meet? How did he propose?
Jayton and I actually met in 8th grade! We didn’t start dating until senior year of high school and we dated all throughout college even though he was going to school in Atlanta, Georgia. He proposed in our hometown’s downtown and it was decorated for Christmas which made our engagement pictures even more beautiful! After he proposed, we went to a winery in town where my friends and family were waiting. It was a complete surprise to me, which made it even more special. It was such a sweet and exciting night. I feel like every girl dreams about what her engagement will look like and I had been dreaming about that day since 8th grade. It was so much better than I could’ve ever dreamed of.
What was your initial dress inspiration? Is that what you ended up with?
My dress inspo was something classy, timeless, and Vogue-like. I wanted something that I could look back on in 20 years and still love. At my dress fitting, I told Irene that I wanted to look like Hailey Bieber because I think she’s the blueprint for style and I was obsessed with her wedding dress. I have to say though if I had to choose between my dress or hers… I would choose mine. My dress was everything that I ever wanted and more. When I first put on the dress I knew I loved it, but then Irene found a veil and put it on me and that’s when I knew it was the one. That really brought the whole look together and I am still to this day absolutely obsessed with my dress and veil.
How would you describe your wedding theme? Did Covid-19 have any effect on planning?
My wedding theme was classic natural. I wanted a lot of natural colors and accents. I used a lot of candles, greenery, pampas grass, and tons of pumpkins! Since my wedding was in the fall, I really leaned into the natural look. My style is pretty neutral and classic so I definitely wanted my wedding to reflect that.
Thankfully Covid-19 didn’t have any effect on my wedding day. I’m so thankful that everyone could safely be at our wedding!
What was your favorite memory from the entire day?
Of course, I couldn’t choose just one memory from the best day of my life to be my favorite, so here are a few. My dad chose to not see my dress until the wedding day so doing the first look with him was so special. I also made Jayton guess what he thought my dress looked like before seeing it, so doing the first look with him was fun because he got to see what I actually looked like. We had a lot of people either drive a long way for our wedding or fly in from out of state and that meant the world to us. We felt so loved and celebrated that whole weekend.
Lastly, what was your go-to wedding day playlist? Which song do you feel like adequately describes your big day?
I (Maddie) actually curated a wedding playlist for us that the DJ played at the end of the night. We called it ‘Club Maddie & Jayton’, and it was full of throwbacks like 2000’s hip hop. We wanted our night to be fun and I mean, who doesn’t love a good throwback? Two songs that describe our big day perfectly, is our first dance song, Lifetime by Justin Bieber, and our entrance song, Grove St. Party by Waka Flocka Flame. The two songs are completely opposite vibes, but I think they represent how our day was equally sweet and also a party at the same time!
We are so thankful we got the opportunity to share this beautiful day with you, Maddie! The WED Bridal team appreciates you for allowing us to be a part of your wedding day and feature some of your timeless moments on the real WED bride blog. A huge congratulations to you and Jayton from all of us here at WED!
